Artist Statement

Quilting is my medium for creative artistic expression.  It energizes my soul, it excites me, it calms me, and often exhausts me.

Some of my work is improvisational and ethnic-inspired. My colors are emotional. My message is told with strong contrasts, simple repetitive shapes and patterns, with images that are offset and asymmetrical.

I also work with symmetry as seen in my kaleidoscope-inspired and geometric quilts. In addition to the kaleidoscope quilts, I take ordinary, traditional quilt patterns and turn them into extraordinary quilts using symmetry and mirrored images. I strive to give life and excitement to the rigidity of symmetrical order by using interesting and ethnic fabrics, along with colorful contrasts.

My quilts are saturated with color.  The quilting is often very detailed, inviting you to explore the quilt surface, to enjoy the dance of the colors and shapes, Let the experience of my quilts wash away the dust from your soul and energize you!
